Oddly enough, one of my all-time favorite songs stemming from childhood was Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer." (Not exactly a kids song, I know)

In a slightly related recollection, I remember the first Saturday Night Live after 9/11, when Paul Simon helped open the broadcast with an acoustic version of that song.

His voice was less than optimal, and the banging locker doors from the original recording were missing, but the song was perfect for the occasion.

My dad listened to country when I was a kid and my mom listened to beach music. So when I listen to old country (can't stand the new stuff) or anything by The Platters or The Drifters, it takes me back.

I always did and still do love, "Puff the Magic Dragon."

Sigh - Kermit was my first major crush. I so love Kermit and I'm convinced that's part of my mad Jon Stewart crush (because his voice gets like Kermit's when he's announcing guests)

I loved all the sesame street songs, quite a few of the Hee Haw soundtrack, the Pufnstuff (movie) soundtrack, and of course Puff (for innocent reasons).

And (sheepish admit) some of my mom's corny C&W - Loretta Lynn Country Xmas and Donna Fargo Happiest Girl.

The earliest songs I can remember will reflect my age: "Standing On The Corner" and "Balling The Jack".
